California Writers Club Orange County
Home Officers/Legal Cal Writers UCLA Festival Membership Newsletter
Jack London, Herman Whitaker, George Sterling and Austin Lewis founded California Writers Club (CWC) in 1909. Today, 1,000 members participate in CWC's 17 branches which reach from the Redwoods in the north to the desert in the south. Active membership requires published works that meet club standards. Editors, journalists, and columnists may also qualify. Associate membership status goes to writers who actively seek publication and whose work meets the Credentials Committee standards for publishing potential.

CWC members write novels, short stories, poetry, screen plays, nonfiction articles and books, and more. Over half are published.

The mission of CWC is to educate writers of all genres and levels of expertise in the craft and marketing of their work. CWC is a nonprofit educational corporation. Visit the state site at www.calwriters.org.

The Orange County, CA, branch meets second Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Orange Public Library, 407 E. Chapman Ave., Orange, CA. Programs include speakers, readings of members' works and networking. The branch holds two critique groups outside regular meeting time and an annual celebration of California Writers' Week in October. Questions? Reach us at calwritersorangecounty@hotmail.com
